Thailand is an amazing country bursting with culture and history. With stunning landscapes from the lush forested mountains in the North to the tropical beaches of the South.
It is also home to some of the best hotels in the World and certainly the most unique. They have some of the Worlds best luxury hotels, lots of great family choices and the best honeymoon hotels. Have a look at my favourite’s here….

THE FLOATHOUSE RIVER KWAI – KANCHANABURI
The Floathouse is an exclusive boutique hideaway floating directly on the river surrounded by lush jungle. To reach this remote hotel you take a scenic trip along the river by traditional longtail boat, compliments of the hotel. Each of the floating villas is designed to blend in with the local environment. They have thatched rooves and elegant teak interiors. The terrace sits right at the waters edge where you can relax with a book on the swing seat, or sunbathe. There are plenty of interesting things to do in the area. Explore the river by longtail boat, bamboo raft or canoe. Head into the jungle on a trek to find stunning waterfalls. Or visit the famous Bridge over the river Kwai, an elephant sanctuary or the Tiger temple.
Where – The floathouse is in a remote area an hours drive north from Kanchanaburi. The last part of the journey is by boat.
How much – For a luxurious and unique villa you might expect to pay more. Prices start around £60 per person per night.
INIALA – PHUKET
Jaw dropping design and staggering luxury in a stunning beachfront location. This is one of Thailand’s most luxurious and exclusive hotels. It is a firm favourite now of the rich and famous looking for unbridalled luxury in an exclusive and private location. Guests usually arrive by private jet from where the personal chauffeur will take them to the villas. He will hand over at the villa to your personal villa manager who is on hand throughout the stay to cater to the guests every whim. Each of the four villas in this exclusive private estate are uniquely designed and more theatre set than hotel room. These beachfront villas all have stunning views over the white sand beach to the turquoise waters of the Andaman sea beyond. Each villa has plenty of space with dining and lounging areas and a large pool. As well as private dining in your villa you can enjoy meals in the beachfront restaurant or on the beach by the ocean, where they have delicious bbq’s. The food as you can expect is amazing and the chefs will even tailor menus just for you.
Where – Natai beach is on the West Coast of Thailand about 40 minute drive from Phuket airport
How much – There are two new pool suites which start at around £800 per night for two people. The three bedroom villas will set you back around £2500 per night.
TREEHOUSE VILLA – KOH YAO NOI
This is one of Thailand best kept secrets. Nestled between lush hills and a white sand beach this is one of Thailand’s most unusual hotels. Each of the villas have the look of rickety tree houses an imaginative child might design. These are some of the coolest villas in Thailand. Palm thatched rooves sit over the elevated bedroom which have amazing views over the lush jungle, the beach and the ocean. Then below you have an open living area with swing seat, day beds and an infinity pool. The villas blend perfectly into the lush surrounds but the rustic design doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy sumptuous luxury inside.
Koh Yao Noi is a quiet and underdeveloped island and the resort is at the end of a small winding road, giving it a remote hideway feeling. Most people will arrive by boat from Phuket (1 hour) or Krabi (25 minutes). This is a great place to enjoy barefoot luxury, get back to nature and relax in an adults only heaven.
Where – Koh Yao Noi island. You have to get a boat to get there – 1 hour from Phuket or 25 minutes from Krabi
How much – Expect to pay £300 per night for a Treehouse villa and £400 for a beachfront villa. For two people with breakfast.
KEEMALA – PHUKET
Keemala looks more like a film set than a hotel. Accommodations range from treetop villas, to clay cottages or birds nests. Each with its own private pool and all connected by walkways through the lush jungle. Keemala is a secluded retreat set into the lush hills away from the crowds. It is a great place to relax and unwind and get back to nature. This is luxury with a spiritual feel and a great place to relax, unwind and get back to nature and enjoy some holistic therapies or spa treatments and stay in some of the most unique hotel rooms in the World.
Where – in the hills behind Kamala beach in Phuket
How much – Prices start around £240 per person per night for a Clay pool cottage.
SONEVA KIRI – KO KUT
Set on a stunning a secluded island surrounded by rainforest and waterfalls on one side and powder white beach on the other. This resort offers fantastic luxury villas nestled into the lush tropical grounds. Villas range from a sprawling Six bedroom reserve perched on a cliff, to beach retreats right on the powder white sand. All offering exceptional luxury and private pools. Guests can enjoy menus created by Michelin starred chefs and a unique treetop restaurant where you dine in a pod high up in the canopy and where your waiter arrives by zipline.
Where– Ko Kut is an island way off the tourist trail, close to the Cambodian border. To get there take the hotels own plane from Bangkok airport (1 hour 15 minutes) then the hotels speedboat to the island.
How much – This is an exclusive island resort and prices reflect this. Expect to pay from £750 per night for a 4 person villa.
FOUR SEASONS GOLDEN TRIANGLE – CHIANG RAI
This amazing place feels and looks more like an African safari lodge than a Luxury Thai hotel. From the moment you step off the traditional longtail river boat you are in a wonderful and stunning natural environment. The resort is set in a remote location in the famous Golden Triangle region of Northern Thailand. The resort is trying to give you the feel and experience of a 19th century explorer. You can see this when you open the elephant tusk door (not real tusks) to find you elevated safari style tent, decked out in rustic, traditional décor that sits well with the surroundings and that bygone era. Each of these luxurious tents have open sides which gives you amazing views and a welcoming breeze. All the tents have a veranda with outdoor shower and amazing views. If you can, upgrade to a river view or even better go for a deluxe tent where you can relax in your hot tub overlooking the stunning scenery. For the ultimate in luxury there is the Explorers lodge which boasts two separate bedrooms and your own infinity pool.
An explorer will need somewhere to explore and this is the perfect place. This is the famous Golden Triangle region where Thailand meets Burma and Laos. Here you can trek the jungles, explore the rivers and meet the rescued elephants and learn how to become a Mahout .
Where – In a remote setting an hour and a half North of Chiang Rai. Transfers are available by car and boat or helicopter
How much – Expect to pay over £5000 for a superior tent for a two night stay on all inclusive.
SIX SENSES – KOH YAO NOI
Phang Nga Bay is one of the most stunning sights in all of Thailand. Towering limestone pinnacles jut vertically out of the emerald waters. Each of Six Senses beautifully crafted teak villas have views over this spectacular scenery. The villas have a luxurious but rustic feel as though you are staying high up in a treehouse. The resort is on the quiet island of Koh Yao Noi, a 45 minute speedboat trip from Phuket. This gives it a remote island paradise sort of feel. It is barefoot luxury at it’s best and the resort prides itself on it’s Eco and Sustainable credentials. The resort is all about getting back to nature and enjoying the lush surroundings and island wildlife.

CABOCHON – BANGKOK
Bangkok is home to lots of amazing luxury hotels. Most are huge contemporary towers but the Cabochon offers something a little different in Modern Bangkok. The Cabochon combines an elegant colonial facade with modern luxury into a stunning boutique haven in the heart of bustling Bangkok. It is hard to believe when you arrive that the hotel was only built in 2012. It was designed and built to imitate one of the colonial buildings of 1920’s Shanghai. The attention to detail ensures you will feel like you have stepped back in time. Classic French doors open to overhanging balconies that overlook the tranquil inner palm fringed courtyard. While the interiors are decorated with beautiful antiques and art. The rooftop pool is a great place to cool down after a hot and sweaty day exploring the city. Rooms are spacious for Bangkok and all stylishly decorated. The hotel prides itself on its discreet but very personal service where all your needs are catered for. This is arguably Bangkok’s most stylish and tranquil hotel in the heart of this buzzing city.
Where – In a quiet lane just off busy Sukhumvit in central Bangkok. It’s about a 20 minute walk to the nearest Skytrain station

MARNADEE – CHIANG MAI
Marnadee is a lovely heritage hotel nestled on the banks of the Ping river just outside Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. This is a great place to relax, unwind and restore your sense of well being. The beautiful grounds and surrounding rice paddies and forests make this a tranquil and relaxing retreat. You stay in beautifully restored rice barns whose stylish interiors are decorated with antiques and local handicrafts. Each stilted residence has great views over the lovely grounds or the river.
