Where’s hot in October half term

Spread the love

Do you want to get away for the October half term? Want to know where we can go at the moment and where it will still be hot and sunny?

I have taken a look at the best places for you and your family to go at October half term.  want to spend all that money to spend all week indoors? Or do you want to spend the week in shorts or a bikini enjoying the pool and the beach?.. I thought so.

Here are my top picks for half term for you. I have chosen places with the least restrictions, direct flights that aren’t too long and where you can enjoy Autumn sunshine. The October temperatures are average daytime high’s taken from Holiday-weather.com.

The UK government have indicated that the PCR test requirement when you return to the UK may soon be scrapped, in time for October half term. this is great news for families worried about the extra costs of these tests. Let’s keep an eye out for this!

ALGARVE – 25 degrees

A firm favourite in the Summer months, the Algarve also offers lots for families in Autumn. Famous for it’s lovely coastline and beaches the Algarve also has a wide range of accommodations for families and is a particularly good place to find lovely private villas.

Entry requirements -If you are vaccinated or can show you have recovered from Covid you do not need a test to enter Portugal. If not you will need a negative Antigen or PCR test to enter. Under 12’s don’t need to. Everyone needs to fill out an online form before travel

Flight time – 2hours 50mins

ANTIGUA – 29 degrees

A beautiful tropical island with white sand beaches and some of the Caribbean’s best family luxury resorts, plenty of which have great kids clubs. this is in my opinion the best Caribbean destination for families looking for a hot destination which is family friendly without sacrificing luxury.

Entry requirements – These are the least restrictive of the Caribbean islands with no quarantine on arrival, just a negative test needed plus an online form before travel

Flight time –  9 hours

CYPRUS – 27 degrees

Cyprus has long been popular for European Autumn and winter sun. The island has lots for families with great beaches and plenty of activities to keep the whole family happy and a wide range of fantastic hotels. Personally I think the area in and around Paphos is nicer than the Larnaca region but both are great options for half term.

Entry requirements – Vaccinated travellers, or travellers with a Covid recovery certificate can enter Cyprus without a test. Everyone needs a Cyprus flight pass. As the UK is considered a Red country, if you are unvaccinated you will need to get a PCR test before you go and another one when you arrive which may put off unvaccinated people. Under 12’s are exempt from this.

Plight time – 4hours 45mins

DUBAI – 35 degrees

Hot, hot, hot!! The nearest destination with direct flights to get weather this hot. Great beaches, theme parks, incredible luxury hotels. Dubai is a fabulous destinations for families looking for guaranteed sun, lots to do and some of the Worlds most incredible luxury hotels.

Entry requirements – Anyone over 12 will need to get a PCR test before you travel and show the negative results on arrival. Doesn’t matter if you are vaccinated or not.

Flight time –  6hours 55mins

GRAN CANARIA – 26 degrees

The Canary Islands are a solid choice for October sunshine and offer lots of things to do and see for families. The island also has a great range of hotels including some of the Canaries most luxurious.

Entry requirements – No need for a test if you can prove you are fully vaccinated. If not you need a negative test. Plus you must fill out an online form. Kids under 12 don’t need either.

Flight time – 4 hours

LANZAROTE – 27 degrees

As with Gran Canaria this is another great choice for families with lots of family friendly facilities and hotels and it is the warmest of the Canary Islands (just) in October.

Entry requirements – No need for a test if you can prove you are fully vaccinated. If not you need a negative test. Plus you must fill out an online form. Kids under 12 don’t need either.

Flight time – 4 hours

MALTA – 25 degrees

Malta offers great value for families and has some great resorts with plenty going on. The snorkelling and diving is amazing and Valetta is steeped in history.

Entry requirements – All adults and children over 11 must show proof of vaccination. Children under 11 must show a negative test result. So Malta may not be for everyone. If you have older unvaccinated children you won’t be allowed I’m afraid.

Flight time – 3 hours

TENERIFE – 25 degrees

The most popular Canary Island, albeit the least warm of the three listed here. Tenerife has more than enough to see and do for a family at half term.

Entry requirements – No need for a test if you can prove you are fully vaccinated. If not you need a negative test. Plus you must fill out an online form. Kids under 12 don’t need either.

Flight time – 4 hours

HOLIDAYS TO THESE DESTINATIONS

There are plenty of Holiday options available for all of these places. From large beach resorts with kids clubs, watersports and lively entertainment. To small boutique hotels, luxurious and elegant 5star options and private villas where you can enjoy privacy and your own pool.

If you are looking to take your family away for October half term, I would be more than happy to organise a fantastic trip to suit your needs that you and your kids will love. All at a great price of course  – Paul
