Best Club Med holidays all inclusive

Club Med – the original all-inclusive resorts – Are they for you?

I recently booked a large ski group on a Club Med holiday to France. In the past Club Med have always seemed a little expensive to me. Now though, with prices increasing significantly for other ski holiday packages that doesn’t seem to be the case. With that in mind I wanted to explain what a Club Med holiday involves so you can see if it is for you.

CLUB MED SKI: ALL-IN

Club Med ski holidays are all-inclusive. Unlike other ski holiday packages you get all your food plus drinks included. If you have skied before you will know all about ski resort bar prices. They can be eye watering sometimes. If you like your Apres ski then you could save quite a bit in the bar. All Club Med packages also include your lift pass. Lift passes in the Alps will usually set you back around £250-£300 these days. Your ski school is also included. They offer different levels from beginner to advanced over five mornings. Another saving. Your flights and airport transfers are also included if you want them, or you can make your own way to the resort if you prefer. With these extras included as part of your holiday it does make Club Med prices more competitive to other ski tour operators.

Another popular benefit with Club Med ski holidays is childcare. Families are well catered for, with creche, kids clubs and teen clubs in many of their ski hotels. Kids & teen clubs from 4 years and up are included in your holiday cost. The babyclub / creche is at an extra charge. Club Med have always been a firm favourite with families who love the freedom the childcare gives them.

There are a range of Club Med ski hotels in the alps, Japan and now a brand new one in Canada. Some offer fairly low deals like Serre Chevalier where a weeks package start at around £1350pp with flights and transfers. Although if you fancy a bit more luxury then there are plenty of more luxurious options. Most of the ski resorts are in great locations close to the slopes and they offer great facilities, usually including indoor pool and spa facilities.

CLUB MED BEACH RESORTS: ACTIVITIES

Club Med have a huge selection of fabulous beach resorts. All resorts have a range of activities and sports available. Most are included in your all-inclusive package. All the beach hotels have a watersports centre offering various activities like sailing, water-skiing, wakeboarding windsurfing and sea kayaking. You can enjoy free coaching for these, or just borrow the equipment. Some locations also have surf and kitesurf schools and Padi scuba centres with courses available.

On land you can hire bikes, jump on a horse, enjoy some archery, or get coaching at a tennis academy. There are also organised football and beach volleyball tournaments. Something unique to Club Med is the flying trapeze and circus school, where you and your kids can learn some Cirque Du Soleil style tricks. You will never be bored at a Club Med resort. Of course if you want to chill by the pool or on the beach you can. Like the ski resorts you will also find great spa facilities to enjoy if you need a little pampering.

CLUB MED FAMILIES

I touched on the kids clubs and activities already above. Club Med are renowned for offering really family friendly holidays.  As mentioned there are free kids clubs for 4year olds right up to 17 year olds. Your kids can meet new friends and enjoy all manner of activities and sports in a fun and safe environment. All clubs are run by experienced and professional staff. Kids can have fun and play, plus learn and develop skills in one of the sports academies.

If you have younger kids, Club Med provide everything you need from highchairs to baby food and bottles. They also have onsite creche facilities, so you can have a bit of adult time and a drink by the pool, while your little ones are looked after. A lot of the hotels have family rooms and suites with separate sleeping areas and there are free kids places and discounts available. Some of the more luxurious resorts have large luxury apartments or villas with private pools.

Club Med really is a good choice if you are looking for a family friendly holiday with lots going on but without compromising on quality.

CLUB MEDS AMAZING LOCATIONS

There are Club Med hotels all over Europe, on beaches and in the mountains. They also have a lot of out of the way locations that you might not have considered going to. If you are planning a trip to the Caribbean then how about somewhere a little different like Martinique or Guadeloupe. Everyone’s been to Barbados and St Lucia, right? Or what about a holiday staying in a thatched cottage surrounded by coconut groves in Senegal?

They also have resorts in far flung, unique locations in China and Brazil.

EXCLUSIVE LUXURY

Most Club Med hotels fall into the 4star category but they do have a few stunning, exclusive 5star options. In the Maldives they have a luxury resort on a private island with 52 luxury eco-villas, all with a private pool. In Mauritius the Albion resort has lovely private villas with pools where you can employ your very own chef and butler.  In the Dominican Republic the Michès Playa Esmeralda is an eco-resort and a paradise beachside hideaway set amongst lush gardens and palms on a white sand beach. A little closer to home in Sicily, Cefalu resort offers ultra stylish luxury in a stunning location with breath taking views over the Med.

In the mountains you can choose from the stylish chalet-apartments in Valmorel or the modern contemporary luxury of the recently opened Grand Massive resort in Samoens. Both in fantastic ski in-out locations and offering luxury for your next ski holiday.

CONCLUSION

I think Club Med holidays are great if you have kids and are looking for top quality accommodation and amazing locations. They are great if you want loads to do, or loads to keep your kids busy so you don’t have to. Then the range of activities and kids clubs could be a god send. The locations are great, be it a ski in-out hotel in the mountains or a hotel sitting directly on a white sand beach.

If you don’t have kids that’ fine. There are adult only hotels like Club Med Turquoise in Turks & Caicos and Arcs Extreme ski hotel where the all day bar turns into a nightclub with guest DJ’s and late night parties. Some of the other hotels have quiet, adult areas where you can chill without screaming kids around too.

The All-inclusive is good too. Much better than some other places where you get tiny plastic cups and can only enjoy watered down spirits and awful local beers. You have branded spirits and even cocktails included and the food is great, particularly the more luxurious resorts. You would expect nothing less from a French company.

Club Med as mentioned are French owned and operated and work to very high standards. Each resort does have a French style and feel.  A lot of the staff will be French, although most will speak English. You really know what you are getting with a Club Med hotel, wherever it is in the World. Whether you like that idea or not is up to you.
